Anotato is different. We use a unique Credit and Trust Score system to ensure that only high-quality, relevant contributions rise to the top. How It Works: 1. Discovery (The Passive View) Browse the web as usual. When you see text highlighted in pale green, that means someone has left a thought there. Click the highlight to open the view window. Read the annotation (or cycle through multiple notes using < Prev and Next >). You don't need an account to view annotations - only to create them or interact with them. 2. Creation (The Active Voice) Have something to add? Highlight any text (10-300 characters) on a page. Right-click and select "Create Anotato Annotation." Write your insight (up to 20,000 characters) and save it to the page for everyone to see. Requires 1 "Create Credit" to ensure quality. The Anotato Economy: Quality Over Quantity To prevent spam and encourage thoughtful discussion, Anotato operates on a credit system. New users receive a starter pack of free credits. Create Credits: Used when you publish a new annotation. Forward Credits: Used when you "Forward" (upvote) a note you find valuable. The Trust System: Your Reputation Matters Your Trust Score determines how much influence you have on the platform. Boost Your Score: Write good notes that get Forwarded (Upvoted), or successfully Report spam. Lose Points: If your notes are Reported (and the report is upheld), your score drops. Interaction & Moderation Forward (👍): Boost an annotation's visibility by your Trust Score value. (Costs 1 Credit). Reject (👎): Reduce an annotation's visibility. (Free).
