Version 5.1.6 - 5.1.11 fixed bugs and added two new languages (Bulgarian and Romanian). Version 5.1.5 added support for JPEG XL (*.jxl) images. All effects and adjustments have now been converted to run on the GPU which improves their quality and performance. Version 5.0 is a major update that has improved performance. Pressure sensitivity is now supported for pens and drawing tablets, and most effects and adjustments now use the GPU for rendering which improves their quality and performance. A new plugin system for effects permits them to also use the GPU and hardware accelerated rendering. And there are many more smaller improvements all throughout the app! And yes, plugins are supported in the Microsoft Store version of Paint.NET! Instead of putting them in the installation directory, go to your Documents folder and create a new folder called "paint.net App Files" (without the quotes). Then, create the usual subfolders (Effects, FileTypes, and Shapes) and place the relevant plugins into each of them.
