Weasis is a free, open-source DICOM viewer for medical imaging, built on a highly modular architecture. It runs both as a standalone desktop application and as a web-based viewer, and is trusted across healthcare by hospitals, health networks, multicenter research trials, and patients. Weasis opens studies from CD/DVD, local drives, PACS and DICOMweb, and supports a broad range of modalities including CT, MR, PET, ultrasound, X-ray, mammography and ECG/waveforms. Beyond fast 2D reading with window/level presets, zoom, pan and rotation, it offers advanced 3D tools: multiplanar reconstruction (MPR), maximum intensity projection (MIP), volume rendering, a 3D cursor and per-view synchronization to correlate the same anatomical point across views, and DICOM segmentation display shown in both MPR and interactive 3D cut views. Additional tools include measurements and annotations, DICOM Presentation State and Structured Report support, radiotherapy (RT) structure, dose and plan visualization, a magnifying lens, pseudo-color maps, anonymization, and export to DICOM, images and video.
